Thank you for your reply, it was very informative and i was glad to talk to someone who was in the same situation that i was. I dont mean to say that ALL breeders are nasty- its just very intimidating for someone just starting out buying a new pet to talk to people who feel you are unworthy of their dogs. I understand the need to screen new customers- a breeder obviously wants their pups, who they have spent so much time and effort and love into breeding, to be placed in well maintained, loving homes. But, on the other hand, by being so stand-offish with new buyers, they push us into the arms of the very petstores they are against. Again, because fo the chance of getting a mill puppy, i will not go to a petstore again. I would go the either a breeder or shelter- but i, through my efforts to research and learn about pekes and breeders, would know what attitude to expect, whereas a new buyer would not, and therefore, possibly come to the same conclusions that i did. I ask breeders that while certianly not to sell to just anyone, to take the time to give a potential buyer a little education instead of a virtual door in the face, especially if the only reason you are turing a person down is lack of available puppies. It could mean the difference between a buyer who will take the time to learn about the breed, and an impulse buyer at a petstore.
Thanks again,
nicole
