When she states that if you don't take her out at night she might mean before you go to bed. How old is your son? Is he responsible enough to take the dog out before he goes to bed? Consistantly? I love my pekes. And, my male is 10 months old and I still need to get up with him to let him out during the night, but, he lets me know he has to go to the bathroom. You can use wee wee pads at night. Or you can crate train the dog. But, ask who the vet is on this dog and give them a call and see if the dog has been kept on a schedule for his shots and vaccinations. A five pound peke that is over a year old is considered a sleeve and should not be bred, so that expense needs to be taken into consideration when getting her. Sounds like it might be a real nice dog. Not big enough for roughhousing with a young boy. Irene

> My son has been wanting a small dog, and today a girl in one of my classes offered me her "miniature" pekingese. It's a female, not spayed, born 2/14/97. She said her brother-in-law gave her the puppy at 4 weeks. It was one of a litter of 6, and he kept the parents. She said the pup is housebroken, but will have accidents at night if she is not taken out. She also said that she is super-tiny, about 5 pounds. I've never had a housedog, and never had to housebreak one, and am totally new to this breed. Should I consider taking this dog? I'm open to any suggestions - please email me privately as I found this site by accident, and may not be able to find it again! Thank you!
