Hi Jodi:

I have 3 Pekingese. 2 males and a female. I also have a lhasa apso....

The female that I have does not shed, the 2 males do. Our female has very thin hair beautiful dog black and brown. 1 male is auburn. The other male is white and tan and the furriest dog I have ever seen!

We had one peke who died in may (compressed spine). That does not stop us from getting another. He was hit by a car when he was younger. We did get a new one named Sonic. He's so cute looks just like a gremlin as they all do.

Anyway I have a 2 year old son who was bit in the face by my first peke (the one who passed away) he took his chewy away from him and was bit.

My other peke use to snap at him until he was warned (water in the face) and has yet to ever snap at him again. Now, for some reason he is very protective over my son. They are best buddies.

I don't think that these dogs bite out of the blue, not from my experience, but like any dog who is provoked, hit, pulled or if they seemed harmed in any way will indeed protect themselves....and their chewy! My son has learned not to pull their hair...etc., Things are great!

Now, all 3 pekingese get along just fine with my Lhasa Apso. It took about 2 weeks until they were all friends. Which is normal. They growl at each other if they are protecting their spot in the house, or their chewy. But all in all they all get along.

They are fun dogs! They love to chase each other around the house all of them are lap dogs. My female Mookie snores.....the other 2 do not.

Guess what I'm trying to say is that these lovable dogs each have their own traits, and personalities!

Some shed, some don't.....your relative would be missing out on hours of fun a day if he/she did not own a peke. They love to play! Very protective dogs. They have such feelings like humans. Beautiful dogs!

Good Luck!

Deb
