I would not get a Pekingnese if there are small children around. I have 3 Pekes, one is a spayed bitch of 10 months and her 2 brothers that are only 8 weeks old. They do demand much attention. They have alot of personality. Mine do get on with my other 6 dogs. I love the breed but they do not have the easiest of temperaments. They do snort a little bit but not to the degree that it disturbs me. I have not found my 10 month old pekingnese shedding her hair. In fact my short haired dogs shed their hair much much more. There is just something special about them. I let my Tara go to the beauty parlour about every 6 weeks and I will let her brothers go when they have had all their innoculations. It is a fact that they do have problems with their eyes and also getting colds. My vet informed me a cold in a dog is a bacterial infection and not a viral infection as in a human. Tara has had 2 colds so far. She runs a fever and she snorts more than usual and and she rubs her nose with her paws.
