> I have a 5 week old Peke (weighing 1 pound) that I rescued from an accidental (careless) breeding. He has 2 hernias. The small umbilical one is not my main concern. However, he also has a large abdominal hernia which, of course, will require surgery. The vet is watching it trying to buy Taz some more time since he is so young and small. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to make as informed decision as possible. Thank you

our 5 year old female suffured a belly hernia and her uterus fell out into one of her "breasts", making it look like she had a very swollen one. since all this happened about the same time she went into heat, i thought hormones had her swollen.after a couple of months this didnt go down and we tooke her to the dr. and they did exploratory surgery. b/c of the hernia she had to be spayed ( which was in the future anyway as we didnt want to breed her again,)
but we found out that if she hadd injured her tummy while the hernia was there and her uterus was exposed, she could have popped it and died. I am very sorry for you, I hope all turns out well. Baby Tai Pan is better and happier than I have seen her in a long time,.
