The message you responded to was one sent out on the pekingese mailing
list. Any message you receive through email comes from there. All
messages posted here show up only via the web.
The mailing list is for people to have ongoing discussions about
pekes. There can be a lot of messages however, so a lot of people
don't want to join it just to ask one question. This area is where
people who just have one or two questions can ask them, and then come
back in a few days and see what answers appear.
So, to answer your question, yes this is the proper message area, but
so is the mailing list.
