My Pekingese is approximately 8 months old and I still have an occasional oops.
Mostly I crate trained my Pekingese. At night I put the Pekingese inside the crate and then two or three times a night (only once now, thank goodness) I would take the little guy outside and wait until he pottied. When he came back in I would give him a treat and put him back inside the crate. During the day I put him outside probably every 3 to 4 hours. If I catch him starting to potty on the floor, I pick him up and take him outside. After about 2-3 months of this routine, he is now almost oops free. If he gets really excited or for some reason his routine gets messed up(usually by his human who has to work overtime), he then may wet on the rug. It has been a long time(probably three months or so) since he has pooped on the rug. My thought is that crate breaking a dog is probably a lot easier than plain paper potty training. I won't say I didn't have problems at first because I did, after all he was just a baby, but he is doing wonderful now. Patience and a routine I believe are the keys. In regards to the feeding, I fed my Peke three times a day (probably 1/8 cup of food) until he was about 4 months old. Then he himself decided he didn't want to eat the middle meal, so I cut it down to two times a day feeding him just a little more each meal. Then about a month ago he again decided he did not want to eat in the mornings, so I feed him once at night a little over 1/2 cup of food. I also use a very good brand of puppy food which I believe helps when they are growing. My Peke now weights about 10 lbs and is a frisky little guy. You will get to adore the little peke more and more as time goes on. One word of caution, as if you haven't noticed already, they can be very stubborn, you do have to be firm with them as well as consistant in what you do, this is where the routine comes in. Hope this helps.

Sometimes he'll use paper, sometimes he won't for wetting, but for messes, he loves the carpets. I'm not sure how long this should take before he gets the idea of where he's supposed to go. Getting frustrated. I'd also like any suggestions that might be out there. Thanks, Charly.
