There's no way to prevent shedding of a peke nor should you want to--it's a normal process of losing excess coat in the spring and putting on extra coat in the fall. Unless there is a skin or other problem like mites or fleas or allergies, the shedding is a regular process. It can be minimized by daily brushing or by clipping the hair short all over. I clip all my dogs that are not being shown and brush the show dogs. That keeps shedding to a minimum and the rest you just have to accept as natural.
