This happened to our Peke. He is a 8 yr. old male. I went to class and my husband was upstairs taking a shower. When he came down Mogua could not move his back legs. Well when I got home I thought maybe he had a seizure, he is epiletic ( misspelled). So the next morning he still did not move them so I took him to the vet. They said the same thing but I had them give Mogua medication that they thought could help but they wanted to do surgery. I left him there for observation and the next day he was worst could not move his neck. I decided that I would give him the weekend then if he was not better that I would give him to God. Well I did alot of praying and Mogua started getting better. The vet could not even believe it. I took him home that Monday and he was in a cage for 3 weeks only could get out to go potty. He is now in very good shape. We now had to Mogua proof our home. Which I would do anything for my baby. He is no longer allowed to go up or down stairs or jump on anything. I also do not let him wrestle with the other pup. But he is back to himself and loving being babied all the time. I share in your grief for your sweet baby. I know what it feels like to have your pup healthy one day and the next have to give them back to God. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

> This morning we put our 3 year old peke to sleep. When we let him out in the morning he slipped going up a stair and injured his back.
> He paralyzed himself from the middle down. He could not go to the bathroom and dragged himself across the floor to walk.

> This is just very traumatic for all of us. We do not feel sorry for ourselves we feel sorry for our dog.

> After he slipped he yelped. He was acting a little strange but had an appetite and could walk. He just wanted to be left alone. And felt that we would honor his wishes and he would be ok.....Well....

> I gave him 24 hours to see his progression.

> When we woke up this morning he could not walk and we immediately took him to the vet who said he was paralyzed and this is common for small dogs to injure their spines so easily.

> Has this ever happened to anybody? Has anyone heard of this?

> Our alternatives were surgery with no guarantees the vet said that the prognosis is not good. After surgery they would not know if he could walk again for 72 hours. Even if he could walk again they said he would need help going to the bathroom for the rest of his life.

> My dog was an outdoor dog, loved his yard, and had a zest to run and play and just be happy. He was just swimming in our pool 5 days ago and now he is gone.

> We just do not get it. All we did is let him out to the bathroom and he slips and now is gone.

> Please enjoy your Pets everyday. And from my experience any time your dog injures himself please, take him for x-rays regardless.

> You never know.

> We have 2 other Pekes at home also, we do not think they understand what is going on yet.....

> Any advice to get through this Tragedy would be much appreciated.

> Thank You
