Coat growth depends on a lot of factors, some bloodlines are slow developers
in coat and maturity and others are quite fast. Also it depends on the
hereditary genes for coats, if the ancestors in your pekes bloodlines
had dominent genes for coat then your puppy should have coat but if there
were some shorter coated dogs in the pedigree and these genes became
dominent then he just might have a shorter coat. Also a determining
factor is nutrition, he must be fed a very good dog food that has all
the nutrients and vitamins in it that help keep coats healthy. We add
one capsule of "wheat germ oil, or flax seed oil" to our pekes food
daily to help keep coats in good condition.
