Cass, you might be expecting too much from your puppy at such a young age. In my experience they are usually about 14 to 16 wks old before they have enough control and understanding to do what you expect. Really at this young age you are training yourself to take the puppy out often enough so it will not go in the house. Crate training is really a good idea, your husband might have the right idea.I have always used this method with my dogs. Just get a crate that is not too big (they dont want to dirty where they sleep) put the puppy in for a while and then out to go potty. Then its "playtime without any worries for a while. and repeat the process.If you have any questions you can email me.
