In the first place, I would never buy a dog from a pet store. They usually come from puppy mills where their breeding and care are questionable at best and their parents are treated like factories and then discarded like last week's garbage. The stories would make you cry.

Secondly, I would be very suspicious of any store owner who told a buyer to breed the animal and he would buy the offspring. How does he know what you would breed to or how the offspring would look--or does he care as long as he has something to make a buck on.

Thirdly, breeding a peke can be very time-consuming, very costly if a c-section becomes necessary, and very heartbreaking it all does not go well. You have to really want to breed bad to run those risks so unless you plan to become a breeder, don't do it.

Fourthly, there are lots of homeless pekes out there desparately needing to be adopted. And a lot of them were ones sold by pet stores whose owners became disillusioned afterwards and dumped them. A reputable breeder will always agree to take any puppy they sell back if the deal doesn't work out. Try to get a pet store to do that.

Sorry if I sound calloused, but I've heard these stories too many times and they just burn me up.
