My husband and I have a five-month old Peke and he had similar problems.
Patience is key. For the house training, try to take him out every
hour and congratulate him profusely when he does go outside. If you
catch him going to the bathroom inside, scold him and immediately take him
outside.
As for the cage, our puppy barked for almost a week straight and we still
kept him in a cage. Believe it or not, earplugs helped. He did stop barking
after he realized he wasn't getting any attention with that behavior.
Now he sleeps soundly in the cage at night. Best of luck.
