> I just wanted to reply to some of the answers i got to my query "Money Matters", where i had considered buying a peke puppy from a petstore. The major concern was that by buying from a petstore I was "supporting" puppy mills and such. Well let me say that i did end up purchasing my dog from a petstore, but not before the manager insited on giving me the breeders name, as well as the name of a reputable vet that would give me a free first health exam to ensure my dogs health and general soundness. The vet who i went to for this exam was very nice and commented on the great puppies that have come into his office through that same petstore. This just prooves to me that not EVERY petstore is receiving their puppies from a mill, and not all petstores are simply out to make money off of peoples ignorance(though i will admit that this puppy was over priced, but shes worth every dime) I dont want to for a moment de- emphasize the fact that puppy milling is a horrible, disgusting practice, but i dont think its fair to lump every one in a particular feild of business into one category- thier is no profession where every one in it is evil, except perhaps politics!:) My actual question, considering that this is a Q and A board, and not my soap box, is pretty practical. My pupppy, Meili, is a bit finicky, how do i get her to eat her food without spoiling her? Thanks,

my male peke can be very picky with his food and i have wasted alot of money also. heres what i do. 1st. if he has not eaten in 15 minutes i take his food away and he gets nothing except water till the next meal no matter how guilty i feel. also i make a big deal when i am preparing his meal as if i were a gourmet chef, he loves it when i sing and pretend i am eating his food, i take bits of food as i am preparing his feast and tease him and then give it to him. i also never let him eat alone as i plan an activity as washing dishes or reading a paper while he eats .No one likes to eat alone so why should dogs. praise hi greatly when he is done. also no human food at all.!!! a friends four yr old peke had to have four lower teeth extracted, HAS NEVER HAD DOG FOOD!
