Surgery can be done to remove the eyelashes, but that should only be done if it
is absolutely necessary. You should be sure the problem is the eyelashes, and
not the hair on the skin fold above the nose. This hair can be trimmed with a
pair of blunt-tip baby scissors, saving a LOT of money on an unnecessary
surgery. Sometimes, however, the hair and eyelashes grow into the eye, in which
case surgery is probably the only option.

Be careful with veterinary opthamologists. Some may immediately try to
encourage you to remove the skin fold, which changes the look of the dog.
If they do, I suggest getting a second opinion, since as I said, this is
often unnecessary.
