> I have searched for a couple of years now for a Pekingese. I finally found one in my area. The people said they weren't going to register these puppies due to they were interbred. (Father & daughter). Should this be a major concern, it doesn't sound good. The female puppie is so cute & black - which I have never before seen a black Pek. Thanks for your input.

Breeding a father back to his daughter is call tight linebreeding and it is done by knowledgeable breeders...not frequently but it is done. This litter can be registered..interbreeding is no reason not to register a litter. The potential for hereditary problems in tight linebred pups should be obivious. I do not reccommend tight linebreeding unless I know the pedigrees of both the parents very well. The risk of potential problems is great.

Black is one of the colors pekingese can be...it is not rare but it is not all that common

Remember one thing...if something doesn't "sound good" to you then it probably isn't. But I have bred to a dog who's mother was his father's daughter and I had the most delightful pups...all of them went on to be champions and they had no health problems.
