I have a Peke pup about 4 months old, too. I got him at 7 weeks. At first I kept him loose in the garage with paper. He went everywhere but on it. Then I started keeping him in a pet carrier. I take him out of the carrier and put him directly outside each morning at about 6 a.m. and each evening after work about 5:30p. I put his food and water out with him. So he eats and everything else at once. He held it!!! andboth of us began to get use to the pattern. If I am late on the weekends, etc., he may do BOTH in the carrier (what a mess!)!!! so you have to stick to the schedule. I let him back in the house afterwards and he goes directly into his carrier!!! without any fuss! I don't take him out any other time. Now I am beginning to let him play for just a little while after he comes back into the house just to see what happens. Hopefully, he will stay out of the carrier longer and will scratch at the door to go out....but I think he is too young yet.
You're suppose to feed puppies 3 times a day but I'm not home to do this. He seems to be alright with eating twice a day. The housebreaking training seems to be going well!!!

My question is that after a couple of days he smells awful. I bathe him with dog shampoo real well and he smells good right then. But very soon after, he stinks again! Does anyone know why and what to do about it.

Send me all kind of info and tips about Pekingese dogs because I know nothing. I'm feeling my way though and it seems to be working.

Sometimes he'll use paper, sometimes he won't for wetting, but for messes, he loves the carpets. I'm not sure how long this should take before he gets the idea of where he's supposed to go. Getting frustrated. I'd also like any suggestions that might be out there. Thanks, Charly.
